Funny Banned Commercials – Too Hot for TV

Funny Ad – Say no to dirt

Brand: CWS
How anyone ever thought this funny commercial would get past the censors is beyond us but we can’t fault the absolute brilliance of the humour. Using drug references to sell self-cleaning toilets might raise some flags with most marketing firms but with over 1 million views on YouTube it still managed to work.

Banned Casio Exilim commercial

Brand: Casio Exilim
Well it’s just not hard to see why this one got banned. So it starts and you think – a little nudity it’s not really ban worthy BUT the end really pulls out the “eww” factor and makes you rethink things a little. Hilarious – YES: Sexy – NO! This is one of the funniest commercials that has ever been made and twists social convention immaculately.

Condom commercial – chewing gum

Brand: Unknown
Now, we’re not quite sure why this was banned but it might be something to do with the slight reference to sex amongst youngsters. However it’s a shame as this commercial is absolutely hilarious from start to finish and is one of our favourite funny TV commercials. It carefully twists a potentially disastrous situation into a comic masterpiece where you can fully sympathise and laugh at the sigh of relief the bubble creates.

Sexy Axe banned commercial

Brand: Axe
Following the typical axe/lynx brand message this ad unfortunately pushed the nudity barriers a little too far for the censors to tolerate and was unceremoniously banned. The ad managed to blend an accident with a fantastic (and we’ll admit sexy) workout scene and as funny commercials go it works superbly; it’s a shame it got banned. Sex sells but, according to the censors, only to a point.

Ikea banned commercials – Tidy up

Brand: Ikea
Now these are all just brilliantly funny and it’s quite easy to spot why they were banned. This series of funny commercials uses cleanliness themed humour to sell the Ikea brand and help you tidy up.
The first one – well it’s a funny (though slightly unsettling) accident.
The second one – well it’s just horrible, or is that horribly funny.
The third one – er, um well, oh dear, no idea why this would possibly be banned.

7UP – Now that’s refreshing

Brand: 7UP
This twists the romantic genre of commercials beautifully and it definitely isn’t what is expected. It’s quite uncommon for drinks commercials to be funny commercials and this twists gender expectations very well. You can see why it got banned though – 7UP causes violence; must be all that sugar.

Banned condom commercial

Brand: ZaZoo
When it comes to funny commercials condom ads are often an inevitable source of humour. This one cleverly uses a situation many parents can relate to in order to promote condom use. However, it doesn’t quite promote tolerance, or in fact good parenting, which might go some way to understanding why it was banned.
